Payyanur: The city centre of Pariyaram Medical College started functioning at Payyanur yesterday. The city centre is a OP unit of the medical college. The city centre is located on the main road near Chamber of Commerce builiding. Co-operation minister and president of Pariyarm Medical College Managing Commitee, MV Raghavan inaugurated the city centre at a function held at Payyanur yesterday. NA Mohammed, the director board member of the medical college presided over the meeting. T.Govindan MP inaugurated the phramacy and diagnostic unit. P.Balan Master president of Kannur Dist Co-op Bank, KV Babu-standing commitee chairman of Municipality also attended the function.

The city centre is aimed at providing the best medical services to the public at their convenience. The centre will have OP section functiong daily from 3 pm to 8 pm and will have specialists from all the departments. The patients who requires specialised treatment will be referred to the Pariyaram hospital. The city centre is also equipped with pharmacy and laboratories. The Medical College is planning to set up its city centers at major towns of Kannur and Kasargode districts and Payyanur centre is the first such unit.

Payyanur: The Payyanur Area Jatha of Kerala Socialist Youth Federation (KSYF)- the youth wing of CMP will be held tomorrow. TV Gopalan will inaugurate the jatha at Ramanthali centre tomorrow morning. B.Sajithlal, KT Suresh Kumar and KV Jayakrishnan will speak at the function. The Jatha lead by TP Sunil Kumar, after attending several programs at various parts of Payyanur area will conclude at Annur tomorrow evening. P.Balan Master, M Pavithran, P Surendran and K Venugopalan will speak at the meeting at Annur. The Jatha is being conducted as part of the publicity of the KSYF state conference which will be held on 19th and 20th of October at Malappuram.

Payyanur: The Manaveeyam Samskarika Vedi honoured noted personalities who had proven themselves in various fields and bagged several awards at a function held at Payyanur. KVR Payyanur, Payyanur Kesavanachaari, KU Rama Poduval, PP Balan, NV Krishnan, TV Lakshmanan, EK Vaidyar and Sankara Marar were honoured. Shambu Vadyar Namboothiri (ex Melsanthi of Sabarimala) inaugurated the function and Dr. Sreekumar Nayanar presided over.

Payyanur: The bypass road will be closed down for traffic from tomorrow for the maintanance works. The road will be closed for four months from 1st October 2003. Various measures have been taken by the municipality to facilitate easy and smooth traffice during this period. No autorickshaw parking will be allowed on the main road from central bazar to the busstand. Alternate parking facility has been arranged for the autorickshaws in the municipal office compound. Gandhi Maidan will be opened for the parking of private vehicles. All the way-side vendors will be removed from the footpaths and no storage of items will be allowed on the footpaths. One-way system has to be followed strictly wherever it is imposed and strong action will be taken against the violatiors. Overtaking has been strictly prohibited on the main road.

Payyanur: The renovated Karivellur Juma Masjid will be inaugurated today at 4 pm by Panakkad Hyder Ali Shihab Tangal. Abdu Samad Pukkottoor will offer the main speech in the function.
