Pariyaram Medical College has been conferred with the IMC approval. Dr. C.P. Thakur, the Central Health Minister issued the orders in this respect.
It is reported that the future of Pariyaram Medical College and its students; which was in peril due to the non-approval of IMC, came to a promising end only with the sincere hard work of Co-operative Minister Shri M.V. Raghavan.
Alongwith Pariyaram Medical College, Cochin Medical College has also got IMC approval.

Payyanur: C.Kunhambu, a veteran communist party activist and the agent of Deshabhimani publications at Payyanur died today(5-3-02)evening at Payyanur. Kunhambu was also one of the pioneer watch repairers of Payyanur.
In the recently presented Railway Budget at the parliament, fund has been allocated for the construction of Railway Over Bridge at Payyanur. It has been reported that 18 Lakhs Rupees has been allocated for the preliminary works.
Mad Dogs Attack 5 at Mathamangalam
Mad dogs attacked 5 people at Mathamangalam Bazar on Sunday evening. They were given medical treatment at Pariyaram Medical College. It is also reported that mad dogs attacked numerous tamed animals at Mathamangalam and nearby villages.

New SI for Peringome Police Station
Shri Muyyam Raghavan has taken over the charge of Sub Inspector at Peringome Police Station.
Peringome CRPF Centre
It is reported that the Peringome CRPF Centre would be commissioned during the first week of April, 2002. The construction works for the Training Centre is progressing on war footing.
The construction works for the Trainers’ Quarters, Practicing Ground, Roads etc. are more or less completed.
First Goods Train Arrived at the New FCI Warehouse at Payyanur
Payyanur: The first Goods Train arrived to the newly constructed FCI Warehouse at Payyanur. The FCI Warehouse was inaugurated on 18th January, 2002 by G. Karthikeyan.

Payyanur: The renovation works at Nambyathra Koval Shiva Temple along with the fixation of Copper Sheets to the sanctum sanctorum, Ayyappa Temple etc. are progressing. The renovation work is being supervised by the Renovation Committee formed by the people.
It is expected that for the fixing of the Copper Sheets alone, it will cost around 7 Lakh Rupees as per the Temple Governing Committee members Adv. P.K. Kunhiraman Nambiar, K.V. Kunhappan Master, K. Raman, C.V. Rajagopalan, C.V. Kamalakshan and M. Raghavan Master.
