New Arts&Sceince College At Mathamangalam

Payyanur: A new arts and scienc college affiliated to Kannur university will start functioning soon at Mathamangalam. Jaybees Arts &Science College run by Jaybees Educational Charitable Society started its construction works at their 40 acres of campus at Eramam-Kuttoor Panchayath. The college will be a self-financing one and will offer courses in BBM(Bachelor of Business Management) and BCA(Bachelor of Computer Applications). The college authorities informed that the fees structre will be in accordance with the goverment rulings.The classes will be starting with in a month and temporarliy it will be functioning at Bakkalam till the new buildings are ready.

Pariyaram MC:Doctors' Union Leader Terminated From Service

Payyanur: Dr Mubarak Sani, the lecturer of Community Medicine at Pariyaram Medical College has been terminated from the service by the college authorities. Dr. Sani is also the president of the doctors' union of the medical college called AMSTA. Dr. S.Hariharan, the principal of the college has issued the dismissal order. The managment said that the termination is natural since he was appointed on contract basis . Dr. Sani has been in the forefront of many agitations held in the Medical College and has been closely associated with the CPM.


Mother Attacked by Son with Knife

Payyanur: Smt. K.T. Lakshmi (60), wife of Shri Chathu, Kandamkulamgara, Kunhimangalam near Payyanur was admitted to Payyanur Government Hospital with injuries on her hands. It is reported that her son Balakrishnan attacked her with knife. Conflict related to property lead to the attack.


Doctor Dismissed From IMA

Payyanur: The general body meeting of the Payyanur unit of Indian Medical Association decided to remove Dr. AV Govindan from the association. The dismissal followed by Dr.Govindan's actions against IMA's decisions. IMA alleged that the doctor misguided the association and acted against its decisions in the proceedings on the death of Mrs. Praseetha at his hospital last year. Dr. MV VinodKumar and Dr. VC Raveendran addressed the general body meeting.

Tipper Lorry Collided with Motor Bike - Three Persons Died

Payyanur: Three youngsters, NKP Mohammed Shafi (28), M.K. Firoz (20) and P.P. Mohammadali (18) were died in a horrible accident at Edat on the National Highway today morning at 8.45 am. All the three died belongs to Udumbumthala of Trikkaripur South.

Muhammed Shafi and Firoz died instantly. Muhammed Ali died at Pariyaram Medical College. It is reported that the motor bike went completely inside the tipper lorry.

New Arts & Scince College At Mathil

Payyanur: A new arts and science college started functioning at Mathil near Payyanur. The Gurudeva Arts & Science College affiliated to Kannur University offers two graduate courses-BSc Microbilogy and BSc Computer Sceince. The admission procedures started already and application forms will be availble at the college office at Payyanur and National College, Taliparamaba.

Minister Orders To Reopen Bus Depot

Payyanur: KB Ganesh Kumar , the minister for transport , ordered the reopening of the Payyanur KSRTC Bus depot. He informed this at a function at Kozhikode. The closing down of Payyanur Depot is a warning to all forces who engage in destruction of KSRTC buses during any kind of strike, the minister told. He told similar actions will be taken if such incidents happen in any part of the state. Ganesh also informed that the decision to reopen the depot was taken after getting assurance from T. Govindan MP about the financial compensation for the losses.
