Merchants
Payyanur: The Payyanur Merchants complained that the explanation given by the Municipality authority with regard to the delay in construction of Toilet and other related facility is not acceptable.
The Merchants explained that they do not have any objection in the construction of toilet and other related facilities by demolishing the existing one and they are only concerned about their livilihood. They are of the argument that the present toilet and tank are not situated in front of any shops and only the proposed tank would be in front of the shops which will affect their day to day business very badly.
PARIYARAM MEDICAL COLLEGE, THE DECISION IS WELCOMED:
Payyanur: The workers union of different parties of Pariyaram Medical College have welcomed the decision of the government to entrust the Pariyaram Medical College to Cooperative Sector. They are of the opinion that by entrusting the Pariyaram Medical College to Co-operative Sector, the overall development of the Hospital will be improved.

Tvm: Sri. Raju Narayana Swamy is appointed as the new District Collector of Kasargode. It was decided by the Cabinet meeting held at the capital today.
Payyanur: Pariyaram Medical College will be given back to the co-operative sector. It is reported that the government has taken a a decision to do so in the cabinet meeting held at Thiruvananthapuram today.

Kannur: Chinmaya Mission is planning to start a new Engineering College at Kannur from next academic year. According to the mission sources AICTE has given approval for the project . Swami Chidananda, the president of the Chinmaya Int'l foundation will lay the foundation stone of the engineering college on 17th of this month.
Kannur: Dr.K.H.Subrahmanyan, Head of the Sanskrit Department of Payyanur College is nominated as the new Registrar of Kannur University by the University Syndicate.

Payyanur: Known Congress leader of Payyanur, Sri.M.V.Kunhappan Nair (72) passed away at Korom. He served as President of Payyanur Mandalam Congress Committee, Director of Payyanur Co-Op Stores, president of Korom Vikasana Samithi etc.
Thiruvananthapuram: Entrance will not be granted this year to Paryaram academy of medical science and Kochi cooperative medical college.This was mentioned in the Medical/ Agricultural admission allotment note released yesterday by the State entrance examination commissioner. These colleges have not received the recognition of the National Medical Council and so the admission to 2001 first year MBBS course is blocked, commissioner added. But according to official sources admissions will be granted if Indian Medical Council announces its recognition for Pariyaram College before the completion of the admission procedures
Pariyaram: The Blood Bank in the Pariyaram Medical College started functioning again from yesterday. It was closed for about one week due to the unavailability of various equipments and materials. All kinds of blood test including HIV test for AIDS can be conducted here ,official sources said.
