CMP Kasargod Constituency Convention At Payyanur

Payyanur: The Kasargod Loksabha constituency convention of CMP will be held at Payyanur on 5th April 2004. The convention will chalk out plans to work for the success of the UDF candidate NA Muhammad. CMP is taking special interest in Kasargod constituency since the candidate NA Muhammad is a close associative of its leader MV Raghvan. The convention will be held at SreeValsam auditorium. CMP general secretary MV Raghvan will inaugurate the convention. Party politburo members Patyam Rajan, CP Moosankutty and P Balan Master and the UDF candidate NA Muhammad will address the convention. A Jatha and pubic meeting at Gandhi maidani will follow the convention.

Dhananjayans Bag Swati Ratna Award

Payyanur:The renowned dancer-couple Dhananjayans (VP Dhananjayan and Shanta) have bagged the prestigious Swati-Ratna title and award instituted by the Malayalee Club of Madras, for their outstanding contributions to the propagation of the compositions of Maharaja Swati Thirunal. The eminent persons who have been decorated earlier with this coveted award are stalwarts like Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer, K.S. Narayanaswamy (Veena), K.J.Yesudas, K.R. Kumaraswamy Iyer, and P.Leela. The award ceremony is to be held on 18th April 2004, (6.00 p.m) at the Malyalee Club Auditorium, Club Road, Srinivasapuram, Chetpet, Chennai.31.Prof. S.P.Thyagarajan, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Madras will preside and present the Puraskaar to the Dhananjayans


Bypass Road: Maintanance Works Completed

Payyanur:The ongoing maintance works of the Payyanur bypass road completed on last wedensday, the 31st March. But it is not yet opened for traffic. The road will be opened for traffic after the traffic regulatory committee meeting which will be held later this week.


Ramanthali Makham Uroos

Payyanur: The makham uroos of 17 martyrs of Ramanthali will be held from 8th to 15th April 2004. Various programs will be conducted during the week long celebration at the Ramanthali Juma Masjid premises.


K V Raghavan Master Retires

Payyanur: The principal of Payyanur Govt Higher Secondary School KV Raghvan master retired after the 36 years long excellent service. He held many posts in educational and cultural fields. He is the state treasurer of GSTU and also worked as the state secretary of the union.

Kasargod Constituency Candidates

Payyanur: The final picture of the loksabha election of Kasargod constituency became clear this evening following the Congress highcommand formally announcing the candidate list. The UDF candidate will be Sri NA Muhammad while the LDF has fielded Sri P Karunakaran. The BJP candidate is Sri Balakrishna Shetty.

NA Muhammad, a leading businessman and the director of Pariyaram Medical College is contesting to Loksabha for the first time. Muhammad is the director of Pariyaram Medical College right from its inception. He is a leading business man. His main business concern Nalappad Group is based at Bangalore. His son Haris Muhammad is contesting to Karnataka Assembly from SivajiNagar constituency of Bangalore.

Payyanur: P Karunakaran, the CPM state secretariate member had represented Trikaripur assembly constituncey in the Kerala assembly. He is the general manager of Deshabhimani daily. Karunakaran is also the son-in-law the late CPM leader AKG.


SankaraNarayana Temple Festival

Payyanur: The festival of Sri Sankara Narayana Temple, Ramanthali began today. The festival will conclude on 5th April. Thidambu Nritham, professional drama, devotioanl ganamela, mass dining etc will be conducted during the festival.


Touch Screen Terminals At Kannur RS

Kannur: Southern Railway on Tuesday introduced 'Touch Screen Terminals' at Kannu railway station to enable passengers to gain information on a variety of matters including arrival and departure of trains and reservation details at a given time. The terminals will provide online information to spot your train, PNR status, fares for different classes, train timings and coach positions. While the terminal had now been programmed only in English, the software would be soon designed to provide trilingual option involving Hindi and Malayalam.


KSSPU Conference

Payyanur: The Payyanur town area conference of Kerala State Service Pensioners Union was held at Payyanur. State president CP Narayanan Nambiar inaugurated the conference. The new office bearers of the union's Payyanur town committee are: PV Karunakaran(president), EA Chindan (vice president), VP Krishna Poduval(secretary) , A Govindan (jt secretary) and EP Venugopalan(treasurer)


CMP Payyanur Area Conference

Payyanur: The Payyanur area conference of CMP was held at Annur UP School. Party's politburo member P Balan master inaugurated the conference and KC Narayanan Nambiar presided over. P Surendran presided over the pubic meeting held at Santhigram. P Balan Master, Manikkara Govindan, KV Vijayan, TV Gopalan addressed the meeting. The area conference elected TV Gopalan as the area committee secretary of CMP and TP Sunil Kumar as joint secretary.

Dhananjayans To Perform At USA

Abu Dhabi: The renowned dancer-couple Dhananjayans (Shanta & Dhananjayan) will be presenting their Bharatanaatyam performance for CMANA (Carnatic Music Association of North America) on 13th June in New Jersey. This fund raiser program is to collect funds for building a professional theatre for the Indian community in the New York and New Jersey area. On the 12th of June Smt. Kamala will be honored with the “Sangeetha Sagara” award. This is the first time a Bharatanaatyam Artiste is being awarded this prestigious honor. The Dhananjayans will be felicitating the doyen of Bharatanaatyam.

Babu Parameswaran and his Musical Ensemble who recently won the prestigious American award for his contribution to community development through his art of music in America will accompany the Dhananjayans.
