Ramanthali Makham Uroos

Payyanur: The Ramanthali Makham Uroos will begin today with the flag-hositing by CM Moosa Haji. The uroos will be ending on 4th April with a mass prayer.


Municipality To Launch Website

Payyanur: Payyanur Municipality will be launching a website on Payyanur . It was announced in its budget for the year 2002-03. The website will be for presenting the glorious history of Payyanur to the world. A total of Rs. 7 Lakhs has been alotted for the website and the computerisation of Municipal office.


Comfort Station and Drinking Water In Municipality Budget

Payyanur: A comfort station and drinking water facility at the busstand will be completed during the financial year of 2002-03, says the budget of PayyanurMunicipality which was presented yesterday. A public park near the municipal stadium, publice toilets in north and south bazars,separate parking slots for taxies and autorickshaws are also mentioned in the budget. A tourist boat service, town hall also got place in the budget.

Balan Master Retires From Service

Shri P. Balan Master, the noted figure in Payyanur’s political and social arena is retiring from his official services on 31st March 2002. Presently he is serving as the Head Master of BEMLP School, Madayi. He was working as a teacher in Payyanur BEMLPS till 1998. Shri Balan Master was an active leader of CPI-M till 1987 and is one of the founder leaders of CMP lead by MV Raghavan.

He served as reporter of Desabhimani daily at Payyanur for about 20 years. He was one of the pioneer leaders in forming and establishing Kerala Private Teachers Union (KPTU). He had undergone jail imprisonment for participating in the Employees & Teachers Strikes during Eighties.

He contested assembly bye-election in 1988 from Taliparamaba as an UDF candidate but lost to Shri Pacheni Kuhiraman of CPI-M.

Shri Balan Master also working actively in the Co-operative movement. He served as the Director and later Vice-president of Payyanur Co-Op Rural Bank for several years. He was the president of Kannur District Co-op Bank during 1992-1997. He also served as the founder director of Pariyaram Medical College, Director of RAIDCO and many other co-operatives.

Presently he is the State Executive Committee Member of CMP. Balan Master is the President of the recently established Payyanur Urban Co-operative Bank. He is also the Patron of Payyanur Dot Com Group.

Various programmes are being arranged as part of his send off function. Shri MV Raghavan, the Minister for Co-operation will inaugurate the send-off ceremony on 4th April, 2002. Shri TK Balan, MLA, Smt. Sreemathi Teacher, MLA will also attend the function.

MSF Leadership Camp

Payyanur:The Payyanur Mandalam Committee of Muslim Students Federation (MSF) is conducting a leadership orientation camp at Payyanur. Sri. Hameedali Shamnad will inaugurate the camp on 31st March at GMUP School, Perumba. Senior leaders will attend the camp.


Waste Water Problem:

Payyanur: The Indira Gandhi Arts Society urged the authorities to take immediate action for the removal of over flowing Drainage Water (in front of Payyanur Co-operative Stores).

Treatment Aid Committee:

Kozhummal: The Kaniyankunnu Nav Bharat Club formed a committee for the treatment of A. Sajna, daughter of Shri Divakaran, Kozhummal who is ailing from chronic disease.

Shri P. Govindan Nair (Patron), K. Rajesh (Chairman) and P.M. Parameswaran Master (Convener) were elected.

Kerala Lottary:

Payyanur: Ticket No. P 178937 of Kerala Government Soubhagya Lottary sold at Payyanur was declared as the winner for Rs. 20 Lakhs.

Removed from Service:

Dr. C.R. Jayadevan, of Pariyaram Medical College Ortho Section has been removed from service for irregularities. He used to absent from duties very often and was concentrating on private practice.

Retiring:

Prof. B. Mohammed Ahmed, Head of Malayalam Section of Payyanur College is retiring on 31st March, 2002. He is retiring after 27 years of Service.

Drainage Water, Town is stinking:

Payyanur: Since the drainage water over flown and spread over the road, (opposite to Payyanur Co-operative Stores) Payyanur town started stinking.

VTV Raghavan Elected As State President

Payyanur: Sri. VTV Raghavan of Payyanur has been elected as the president of the Kerala State Tax Consultants Association at its state conference held at Kannur.


Blue Star Sport Club To Celebrate Silver Jubilee

Payyanur: Blue Star Sport Club, Payyanur one of the noted team in the seven's footaball field of North Malabar is celebrating its silver jubilee this year. As a part of the celebration, a senior sevens' football tournament will be conducted at Payyanur from 1st May,2002.
