Best Panchayath: Award Ceremony On 27th September

Payyanur: The Swaraj Trophy for the best panchayth in the state will be delivered to the the Kankol Alpadamba Panchayath on 27th September, 2001. An organizing committee has been formed for conducting the ceremony with Sri. KP Satheesh Chandran MLA as chairman.

Pariyaram Medical College: OP Fees from 15th

Pariyaram: OP fees will be charged from the patients at Pariyaram Medical College from 15th of this month, informed Dr. PK Gangadharan Nair, the director of the medical college. Rs 30 will be charged for the Speciality section and Rs.50 will be charged in Neuro Medicine and Neuro Surgery departments. There will not be any increase in the charges for CT Scan.

Payyanur Khadi Kendra Faces Major Crisis

Payyanur: Payyanur Khadi Kendra is facing a major financial crisis due to a dead stock of its products which costs about three and half crores rupees. The expenses for the normal operation of the kendra is about Rs. 35 lakhs while its revenue from sales is only Rs.17 lakhs per month. The Payyanur Khadi Kendra is providing job to about 2000 people directly and indirectly in Kannur and Kasargod districts. The kendra which has a glorious past is really struggling for its survival.

UNUSUAL STINKING AT PAYYANUR AND NEIGHBOURING AREAS

Payyanur: An usual stinking phenomenon at Payyanur and neighbouring areas disturbed the normal life of the residents. It started from Sundary evening onwards.

COMPETITION OF CINEMA SONGS

Payyanur: In connection with the annual celebrations of the Manakkad Drisyakala Vedi, on 3rd November, a Cinema Song competition will be held for the people of Kannur and Kasargod Districts. Viswakala's North Kerala Painting Festival

Payyanur: Navaneeth TC of Govt High School, Munderi has won the first prize in the north kerala painting competions conducted by the Viswakala Academy, Payyanur.
In the UP section KV Liju (Govt HS Kunhimangalam) and in the LP section SS Aparna (St.Theresas HS Mahe) secured the first prizes. NT Mahesh (GHS Kunhimangalam) won the first prize in Clay Modelling. Artist Madanan inaugurated the function held at Govt Boys HS Auditorium Payyanur. C.V.Balakrishnan presided over the function. Sri..T.Govindan MP inagurated the closing ceremony.

Using Force Against Doctors Not A Good Practice: T.Govindan MP

Thaliparamba: Sri.T.Govindan MP said that using force and illegal means against the doctors for the death of patients is not a good practice and should be condemned. The reason for the patients' death in hospitals should be analysed and found out using scientific methods and not through any other means. He was referring to the increase in such untoward incidents against the private hospitals of this region. Sri.Govindan also stated that he is not at all supporting these type of agitations and called for putting an end all such illegal actions. He was inaugurating the ultra sound scanner at the Co-op hospital here.

Praseetha's Death: Action Council Suspends the Protest

Payyanur: The protest against the Sradha Hospital for the alleged death of Smt.Praseetha has been suspended by the action council. The hosptial authorities has agreed to give sufficient compensation to the affected family. The action council demanded a sum of Rs.3 Lakhs but the doctor and the IMA did not agree with this . The exact amount of compensation will be decided later THe KPCC General Secretary , MK Raghavan was the mediator for the talks.
