New Building For Sankaracharya University Centre

Payyanur: The regional centre of Kaladi Sankaracharya Sanskrit University at Payyanur will have a new building soon. The new building will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs.2.75 crores in the new campus donated by Payyanur College. The first phase of the construction will be for PG and adminsitrative block wich will cost about Rs.1.5 crores. For the last eight years the university centre is functioning in a rented building near Payyanur Subrahmanya Swami Temple.

Buses To Avoid Bypass Road

Payyanur: The buses will not be operating through the bypass road from 10th August onwards, informed the motor transport union secretary at Payyanur. U Narayanan, the secretary of Motor Transport Union(CITU) informed that despite of repeated request of bus owners and employees, the municipality is doing nothing to rectify the totally collapsed bypass road. He told that the bypass road is totally unfit for traffic and hence they are forced to avoid this route.

Light Lit for the Kranti Jyothi Yatra

Payyanur: To commemorate the Quit India day, the Quit India Yatra organised by the All India Congress Committee was inaugurated by KPCC President, Shri K. Muraleedharan. Being the 61st anniversary of Quit India movement, 61 ladies holding 61 lit lamps welcomed the Jyothi to the Gandhi Maidan.

The event was presided by DCC President Adv. Sunny Joseph. KPCC General Secretaries, Shri Rajmohan Unnithan, Shri M.K. Raghavan, Shri Sarathchandra Prasad KPCC Secretaries Satheesan Pacheni, Alphonsa Johnson and ex-ministers K.P. Nuruddeen and N. Ramakrishnan etc. talked in the event.

Kara-Thalichalam Bridge Coming To Reality

Payyanur: The Kara-Thalichalam bridge which connects the Kannur-Kasargod Districts is going to realise in the very near future. The Public Works Department handed over the 2.28 crore project estimate to the Chief Engineer. The new bridge will be constructed parallel to the existing narrow bridge which can accomodate only small vehicles. The approach roads on both sides are already completed.
