AbuDhabi: The Baharain chapter of Payyanur Souhruda Vedi- the global unity of Payyanurians has been formed. Sri. CR Nambiar presided over the formation meeting held at Hotel South Park yesterday evening. An adhoc committee with Mr. Balan Payyanur as convenor and Mr. Sukumaran Kallath as joint convenor has been formed to plan the future activities. Payyanur: Prof Melath Chandrasekharan has been elected as the vice-president of the Tapasya Kala Sahitya Vedi.
Kannur: The historic Chirakkal Koviakam, the seat of the Kolathri dynasty will be the head quarters of the Kerala State Folklore Academy. The Kizhakke Kovilakam including the 53 cent compound has been handed over to the district collector yesterday. MV Vishnu Namboothiri, the chairman of folklore academy informed that an open air theatre, library and a cultural museum will be set up here by the academy.

Payyanur: The speed post facility is introduced at Payyanur post office also. The facility is introduced at Thaliparamba, Cherukunnu and Pazhayangadi also along with Payyanur. These post offices will accept booking of speedpost articles till noon. The articles to Taliparamaba and Kannur will be delivered to the receipient on the same day.

Payyanur: An Auto and Tempo collided on the NH at Perumba near the Muslim Jamaath Mosque today morning killing the Auto Driver Shri Chandran and injuring three others.
Payyanur: The district collector M.Anirudhan visited the trunching ground of the Municipality at Moorikkovval yesterday as per the high court directive. He will submit the inspection report to the high court. Collector held discussions with Municipal Chairperson and other concerned persons.
