Appukkuttan Master To Visit Gujarath Camps

Payyanur: Purogamana Kala Sahitya Sangam is sending its delegation to visit the relief camps of the riot-hit areas of Gujarath. The delegation will be lead by Kadammanitta Ramakrishnan and P.Appukuttan Master, the general secretary of the sangam. They will be leaving to Gujarath on 1st August. Appukuttan Master is also the patron of Payyanur Dot Com Group.

Bypass Road Construction: Vigilance Report Submitted

Payyanur: The vigilance inquiry team which investigated about the allegations related to the construction of the bypass road submitted its report to the government. The report recommends action against the concerned officials and the contractor of the work. The investigation was carried out by a team headed by DySP Pokker following a complaint alleging corruption in the work. The investigation began on 29th January,2002.

Vengara Railway Gate Closed Again

Payyanur: The railway gate at Vengara was closed down again yesterday putting the people of Kunnaru, Muttam and Ettikulam in trouble. It is followed by the decision of Railways to close down all the railway gates without interlocking facility. But due to the pressure from the people and the discussions made by T.Govindan MP, the railway has decided to reopen the Vengara gate. This gate is again closed down due to a directive of the Raiways that the gate keepers and the station masters will be responsible for any accidents occured at these gates. After the closing down of the Vengara gate, the traffic to Ettikulam, Kakkampara, Muttam,Kunnar has been interrupted.

Pappadam Factory Set On Fire

Payyanur: Raveendra Papdam Company at Perumba owned by Puthukulangara Bhaskaran was set on fire yesterday night.The company was completely burned before the fire force could put off the fire. The merchants observed hartal yesterday afternoon at Perumba protesting against the attack.

Sree Narayana Divya SatSamgamam At Payyanur

Payyanur: SNDP Yogam's Taliparamba taluk committee conducted a Sree Narayana Divya SatSamgamam at Payyanur. Swami Sachitananda of Sivagiri Math offered the main speech. TT Soman and NJ Sukumaran also spoke at the function.


Annur Natakaveedu To Perform At Orissa

Payyanur:Two dramas "Premalekhanam" and "Samayam" of Natakaveedu Annur will be played at Orissa. The two plays are selected for the 10 day drama camp conducted by a noted cultural organisation, "utkal vani" of Orissa. Annur Natakaveedu is one of prominent troops of Kerala lead by Babu Annur who has bagged several awards including the best actor of the state. Both the dramas are directed by Priyanandanan, who directed the award winning film "Neythukaran".

PP Mukundan Endowment Distributed

Payyanur: Senior CPI leader PK Vasudevan Nair distributed the PP Mukundan endowments at Payyanur today. The endowments are given to the children of beedi workers securing highest marks in the SSLC, +2 and VHSE. KV Annopkumar(+2) and T.Dhanya received awards of Rs.10,000 and Rs.5,000 respectively from PKV. CPI leaders Pannian Raveendran,CN Chandran,Pallipram Balan and CP Murali also attended the function held at Kaveri Auditorium in connection with the death anniversary of the CPI leader late PP Mukundan.


Koma Poduval Passes Away

Payyanur:K.E.Koma Poduval, the noted freedom fighter and veteran congress leader passed away at Payyanur today. He was 77. Koma Poduval served in various posts in Indian National Congress. He was also the member of Payyanur Panchayath Board.

Minister Visits Patients of Pariayram Medical College

Payyanur: MV Raghavan, the minister for co-operation visited all the patients and inquired about their welfare yesterday at Pariyaram Medical College. He visited all the wards and departments of the medical college. The minister spent the whole day at Pariyaram by visitng each and every patient. P.Balan Master, the director of the administrative board of the medical college accompained the minister.
