Madayi Sub Dist Youth Festival At Kunhimangalam

Payyanur: The Madayi educational sub-district schools youth festival will be held at Kunhimangalam from 31st December,2002. Balakalotsvam and Sanskritotsavam also will be held along with this. Organising committee has been formed for the succesful conduction of the fest with TV Krishnan Nair as chairman and P. Ramchandran Nambiar as general convenor.

Political Parties Asked To Remove Flagposts and Statues

Payyanur:Police depatement has asked all the political parties to remove their flag posts, statues and other decorations erected in road sides and public places in the Payyanur police station limit. Police issued notices to the concerned parties as per SP's instruction. It is asked to remove the erected statues within 24 hours from the receipt of the notice and if not Police will remove it without prior notice.


Aradhana Festival Begins Tomorrow

Payyanur:The 15 days long Aradhana Festival of Payyanur Sree Subrahmanya Swami temple will beign tomorrow. Various cultural programs are being organised as part of the festival. Dance program by the Dance troop of Bhaaskara,Kaithapram will be performed tomorrow at 10 pm.


Rs.40 Lakhs For Eryam Bridge

Payyanur:Rs.40 Lakhs has been alotted for the construction of the bridge across Eryam river. Rs.20 Lakhs has been granted by the District Panchayath and 10 Lakhs each by Block Panchayth and Kadannappalli-Paanapuzha grama panchayath for the construction of the bridge.

Minister Offers Full Support To Pariyaram Medical College

Pariyaram: Sri. O. Rajagopal, the union minister for urban development offered full support of the central government towards the development of Pariyaram Medical College. He was inaugurating the newly constructed water treatment plant at Pariyaram Medical College this morning. He also stated that Hudco will consider the request to decrease the interest on the loan of Rs.45 Crores availed by the medical college. He praised the managment of the medical college who worked hard overcoming all the hurdles and crisis to bring the institution to this level. MV Raghavan, the minister for co-operation and the Chairman of the medical college presided over the function. T.Govindan MP, E.Ahmed MP, CT Ahmed Ali MLA, CK Padmanabhan, P.Balan Master, PP Karunakaran Master, PP Mukundan, KC Kadambooran also addressed the function.

The plant has been built at an estimated cost of Rs.3.8 crores. Water has been brought to the campus from Vannathikadavu which is about 8 KM away from the plant. The plant has a capacity of 1.91 million liters and five tanks with a capcity of 2 million litres are also part of the plant. The plan will put an end to the water scarcity during the summer.

Escape Of The Culprit: Suspension For CI

Payyanur: Mr. Subair, the circle inspector of Police of Payyanur has been suspended from service following the escape of a culprit from the police custody. Shaduly, a muslim league activist of Ramanthali managed to escape from the Payyanur Police station after he was arrested in connection with the murder attempt on CPM activist. IG of police, Mr. Venugopal ordered an inquiry into the incident which resulted in the suspension of the inspector.


Dr KHS Removed From Registrar Post

Payyanur: Dr. KH Subrahmanyan, the registrar of Kannur University has been removed from that post by the Syndicate. KHS, who was a the head of the Sanskrit Department of Payyanur College was appointed as the registrar of the varsity one year ago. He assumed this new designation after taking leave without pay from the college. But later the government rejected his leave request. The decision was taken at the meeting of the University Syndicate held at Kannur yesterday.
