Payyanur: Cases of dengue fever have been reported again from Payyanur. Two persons suffering from dengue fever have been admitted to a private hosptial of Mangalore where as two have been admitted to a hospital at Payyanur itself. It is allged that the preventive measures taken by the Municipal authorities are not sufficient.

Payyanur: The Payyanur Educational Sub-district Schools Sports Meet will be held at Kankol Siva Temple Grounds on 30th and 31st October. CF Bishd, Commanding officer of NCC, will inaugurate the sports meet.
Payyanur: The Kerala High Court orderd the Waqf Board to conduct inquiry and take action in the alleged irregularities occured in the Ramanthali Juma-Ath committee.
Payyanur: The Kannur district level schools' scinece and work experience exhibition began at Payyanur yesterday. Smt S.Jyothi, the municipal chairperson, inaugurated the exhibition. Competitions in various disciplines are also part of the exhibition. The meet will conclude this evening.
Payyanur: The government is likely to introduce a vigilance inquiry into the corruption in the construction works of Pariyaram Medical College. Comptroller and Auditor General has pointed out a corruption of about Rs.148 crores in the deal with Larsen&Toubro, the contractors of the buliding construction of the medical college. This has happened during the LDF rule and while the medical college was under government control. MV Raghavan, the minister for co-operation and the chairman of the board of directors of Pariyaram MC stated that the government will certainly introduce an inquiry into this and possibly it will handled by the vigilance department.

Payyanur: A Neethi Medical Shop will be opened at Payyanur soon. The new Neethi medical shop will be able provide medicines at the lowest price to the public. It is managed by the Payyanur Co-op Urban Bank and is located at the Municipal Shopping Centre at the Central Bazar.
Payyanur: This years theyyam-festival season of North Malabar will begin on 27th October. The 10th day of Malalayalm month Thulam, which is celebrated as 'thulapath' marks the beginning of the six months long theyyam season. Most of the theyyam festivals are conducted in the region between Valapattanam River of Kannur and Chandragiri River of Kasargod. The first kaliyattam festival of this region will be at Neeleshwaram Theru Anjoottambalam Veerar Kavu which is on 28th October.
The main attraction of this years festival season is the Perumkaliyattam of Karivellur Muchilottu Kavu which will be held from 7th to 12th January,2003.
Payyanur: A new nursing college will start functioing at Pariyaram Medical College. The cabinet meeting sanctioned the approval for this college yesterday along with 16 other nursing colleges in the state.
