50 New Beds For Govt Hospital

Payyanur: Payyanur Government Hospital received fifty new beds and cotsfor its use. The inpatients were suffering much due to inadequate beds. The new beds will be put in the Female Ward and the Maternity Ward.


Naval Academy: Delay Due To State Govt

Payyanur: O.Rajagopal, the union miniser of state for defence accused that the state government is not at all showing any initiative or interest to provide the infrastructure facilities for the Ezhimala Naval Academy which will delay the commissiong of the academy. He told that the Kerala government did nothing for the provision of direct road link to the academy site from kannur and for bringing water supply to the site. The minister was on a visit to Ezhimala to assess the ongoing constructon works at the academy site.

GSTU State Camp At Cherupuzha

Payyanur:The state level leadershp camp of Government School Teachers Union (GSTU) will be held at Cherupuzha on 14th and 15th of June,2003. K.Muraleedharan MP will inaugurate the camp at Cherupzuha GMLPS and M.Sujay, the unoin president will preside over. KP Kunhikannan, Rajmohan Unnithan, MK Raghvan, P.Balan Master,Sunny Joseph, KC Joseph MLA, PC Raman, M.Narayanankutty, Kunhikrishnan Nair and PV Ramachandran will address the camp.PC Chacko, Vijayan Chalode, R Ramachandran Nair will speak on various topics.

Seminar on Rehabilitation of NRIs

CP Narayanan Death Anniversary

Payyanur: The seventh death anniversary of CP Narayanan, the CPI-M leader and former MLA of Payyanur was observed at his birth place Kuttoor. MV Govindan MLA inaugurated the functionand several CPM leaders attended.


Garbage Clearing Resumed In Payyanur Town

Payyanur: The clearing of the garbage from Payyanur Town which was held up due to a high court verdict resumed yesterday. The resumption of garbage clearance resumed after the high court vaccated the stay imposed on depoisiting the garbage at municipality's trunching grounds at Moorikkovval.

First Batch Comes Out From Peringome CRPF Camp

Payyanur: The first batch from the CRPF training centre at Peringome came out after the 44 weeks long training. The passing out parade was held at Peringome CRPF Parade Grounds in the presence of PG Gopinathan Nair, the principal of the camp and the DIGP of CRPF. Among the 225 candidates passed out 98 are from Jharkhand and 48 are from Bihar. Only one Malayalee is present in the first batch. Certificates were presented to the outstanding soldiers at the parade.


College Magazine: Principal Issues Notice

Pariyaram: Dr.S Hariharan, the principal of Pariyaram Medical College issued notice to the magazine editor and the author of the controvercial article published in the college magazine. It is reported that an article, by Ajesh Rajan, a house surgeon of the medical college, of the college magazine- The Portrait- has insulted K.Muraleedharan, the KPCC president. Various organisations and leaders have raised protest over this issue and demanded action against the concerned.

CM Inaugurates Sahakarana Hridayalaya


Payyanur: The Sahakarana Hrudayalaya, a specialty cardiac care hospital equipped with modern facilities set up at the Pariyaram Medical College, in collaboration with Bangalore-based Narayana Hrudayalaya, was formally inaugurated yesterday by Chief Minister A.K. Antony. Addressing the function, the chief minister said that with the establishment of new medical and engineering colleges in the private and self-financing sectors, the flow of students to the neighbouring states has come to an abrupt end now. The number of patients going to hospitals outside the state seeking modern medical treatment, has also ceased following the establishment of self-financing medical colleges with better facilities in the state, he said. Co-operation Minister M.V. Raghavan, chairman of the hospital society, who presided over the meeting, said that the proposal for the introduction of a free heart care scheme for the poor with the support of the co-operative institutions in the state, was under the consideration of the Narayana Hrudayalaya. K.Sudhakaran, the minister and director of Pariyaram Medical College, Nalakath Soopy, the minister for education also attended the function. MV Raghavan, the president of the hospital soceity informed that bypass surgery will be carried out here at a cost of Rs.65,000 only
