Highest Corruption In Payyanur Municipality: UDF

Payyanur: UDF leaders allge that Payyanur Municipality is the most corrupted one in the state. They demanded the publishing of the vigilance's first inquiry report. They allege that the tender for municipal fish market was for Rs.4 lakhs and was raised to an amount of Rs.17 lakhs later which indicated clear corruption. A grant of Rs.8 lakhs was given to a newly estatblished women's hostel run by a CPM dominated society. The UDF leaders were addressing a press conference at Payyanur Press Club. AP Narayanan, T.Narayanan Nair, TP Suni Kumar, S. Shukoor attended the press meeting.


Truck Overturns On Perumba Bridge: Traffic Interrupted For 8 Hrs

Payyanur: The traffic on National Highway 17 was interrupted for about 8 hrs today after a truck overturning on the Perumba Bridge. The truck was carrying plastic products from Gujarath and was bound for Malappuram. The truck overturned at about 1 am today morning. The truck was removed from the bridge by the 'khalasis' at about 9 am this morning. Fortunately the truck didnt leap into the river breaking the barricade. The traffic was rerouted via Palakkod- Muttom road and Pilathara-Kanayi road.

Rotary Club Donates Books

Payyanur: Rotary Club of Payyanur donated children's books to 27 primary schools of Payyanur Municipality as part of their literacy project. Smt S.Jyothi inaugurated the function.
