Payyanur: The Kerala State Local Audit Department found massive corruption of about Rs.20 crores in various municipalities of the state. Massive corruption and irregularities have been found out in 14 municipalities in which Payyanur is included. Most of the irregularities happened between 1997 and '99. The audit report will be presented in the coming assembly session.

Payyanur: Sarga Film Soceity of Payyanur will be conducting a documentary film festival at Payyanur on 9,10,11 November. Film director MR Rajan will inaugurate the festival. The documentary films will be exhibited at Sumangali theatre. Discussions and seminars are also part of the festival. A video exhibition will be held at Payyanur College on 11th in association with the college union.

Payyanur: The Payyanur area convention of Kerala Mahila Federation, the women's organisation of CMP, elected its new area committee. P.Balan Master, the central exec committee member of CMP, inaugurated the convention. PT Padmavathi presided over. The new area committee has PT Padmavathi( president), KP Shyamala (secretary) and MK Anila (jt secretary). TV Gopalan, KV Jayakrishnan, KK Venugopalan also addressed the convention.
