Abu Dhabi: The annual general body meeting of Abu Dhabi chapter of Payyanur Souhruda Vedi was held today at Arab Udupi Restaurant's Banquet hall at Abu Dhabi. Usman Karapath presided over the meeting. VTV Damodaran welcomed the audience. The annual report of PSV was presented by the general secretary. The meeting elected the new15 member managing committee with Usman Karapath (president), M AbdulSalam and Madhu S Nambiar (vice presidents), VTV Damodaran (Gen Secretary), Janardanadas and B Jyothilal (joint secretaries) and Khalid Thayyi (treasurer).
The general body meeting asked the Kerala Government for the immediate action for the formation of Payyanur Taluk. The meeting also passed the resoultion demanding immediate action to begin the construction of the railway over bridge at Kotty and the bridge at Choolakadavu, Ramanthali.
A separate committee was formed to handle the rehabilitation/investment projects of PSV. The committee includes Madhu Nambiar (chairman), Radhakrishnan TV (convenor) and PP Damodaran(financial controller).

Payyanur: Thousands of devotees are proceeding towards Thayineri Muchilottu Bhagavathi Temple for witnessing the raising of Perunkaliyatta Thirumudi of Muchilottu Bhagavathi.
Shri Raveendran Annuran from Korom is the person who is getting costumed as Muchilottu Bhagavathi. It was on January 29th, Shri Raveendran Annuran was declared as the competent person to perform as Muchilottu Bhagavathi here. It is the first time, Shri Raveendran is actualising as Muchilottu Bhagavathi.
The Annadanam function started at 4.00 pm and thousands of devotees are being served the Prasadam.
After the raising of the Thirumudi, devotees can avail the blessings of Muchilottu Bhagavathi until 12.00 am. Early morning at 2.00 am after the "Vettilacharam", the celebration which is being held after 9 years at Thayineri Muchilottu Bhagavathi Temple will come to an end.

Payyanur: Pariyaram Medical College will be developed into a university soon, informed MV Raghvan, the minister for co-operation and the president of the medical college managing committee. He was inaugurating the new operation theatre complex and the new building for forensic dept and postmortum at Pariyaram yesterday. The new theatre complex has 18 operation theatres and 3 intensive care theatres. Postmortum will be carried out in the new building from 10th February. KC Venugopal MLA, Dr S Hariharan, CP Damodaran and P Narayanan Nambiar also addressed.
Payyanur: The Four day long Perumkaliyattam at Thayineri Muchilottu Bhagavathi Temple has started. On Friday morning, after opening the sanctum sanctorum, with the "Komaram" of the Bhagavathi, the temple authorities went to Payyanur Subramanya Temple. They collected fire, water, rice and wood from Subramanya Temple and returned to Thayineri Temple.
The fire which was brought from Subramanya Temple used to lit the oven of the Thayineri Muchilottu Bhagavathi Temple which marked the starting of the "Annadanam". After the Ganapathi Pooja, at 1 O' Clock Bhagavathi Thottam, Theyyattam, Pulikandan Vellattam, Chamundi Thottam, Kannangattu Bhagavathi and Puliyoor Kali Thottam and Mondhikkolam were performed.
The cultural programme was inaugurated by Shri MV Raghavan on Saturday evening. Poet V. Madhusoodhanan Nair was the Chief Guest.
