Payyanur: The Payyanur Area conference of the kerala sastra sahitya parishad was held at Thayineri. Sri.KK Ravi inaugurated the conference. The conference elected K.Govindan as president and K.Suershan as secretary.
Payyanur: The first meeting of the newly formed administrative committee of the Pariyaram Medical College will be held on 17th January at Pariyaram. The three member administrative committee consists of MV Raghvan, K.Sudhakaran and NA Muhammad.
Payyanur: CPM is planning to conduct series of seminars on various topics at different places in Kannur district as part of their state conference which will be held at Kannur from 15 to 18 February. In this series a seminar on " New situations and Women's Movements" will be conducted at Payyanur on 1st February.

Payyanur: Sri. MV Raghvan, minister for co-operation will inaugurate the new Cherupuzha Urban Co-op Bank on 19th January at Cherupuzha. Sri. K.Kunhikrishnan Nair will preside over the function,Sri. SR Antony will receive the first deposit from Sri.PC Kunhiraman and Sri. CA Ajeer will distribute the share certificates. Informed KV Vijayan, the president of the bank.
Payyanur: The festival of Madathumpadi temple, Kokkanisseri will begin today. Various cultural events are organised as part of the festival. Swami Sandeep Chaitanya will deliver speech on Geeta on every evening from 16th to 20th January. Sri. MV Vishnu Namboothir, chairman of Folklore Academy will inaugurate the cultural programs. A Ganmela by SS Orchestra will be held on 19th. The "prathishta dinam" (installation day) will be on 22nd January. Various poojas and rituals will be performed on this day.
Payyanur: The 24th state technical school youth festival will be held on 20,21,22January at the Technical School, Neruvambram. Sri. Naalakath Soopy, the minister for education will inaugurate the festival on 20th January at 5pm. Sri.GS Pradeep, ( Ashwamedham Fame) will be delivering a speech in the inaugural function. Sri. T.Govindan MP will attend the closing ceremony on 22nd January at 5pm. About 500 students various technical schools in the state are expected to participate in the festival.

Pariyaram: Pariyaram Medical College has been granted the permission to start Dental and Nursing Schools at Pariyaram. The college has submitted applications to start various paramedical course also here. This was informed by Sri. P.Narayanan Nambiar, the MD of the institution.
Kannur: In the Kannur Dist Higher Secondary Schools Youth Festival, Kunhimangalm HSS is leading with 40 points while Kandangali Municipa HSS is just behind with 40 points. The festival will end on 16th January.

Payyanur: The Payyanur unit of SNDP conducted a protest march against the alleged insulting of Sree Narayana Guru in the procession conducted as part of the University Youth Festival. A meeting was also held at busstand premises after the march. Various SNDP leaders addressed the meeting.
Payyanur: Payyanur College won the overall championship in the Kannur University Youth Festival held at Payyanur by scoring 343 points. The coveted titles Kalaprathibha and Kalathilakam has also gone in favour of Payyanur College. MV Prakasan grabbed the title of Kalaprathibha while Dhanya Keeperi became Kalathilakam. Kanhangd Nehru College reached second with 313 points and Brannan College reached third with 214 points

Kannur: Kannur North Sub Dist won the championship inthe district school youth festival held at Kadamboor. Payyanur sub district finished second. In UP section, Payyanur grabbed the title while second place has gone for Kannur North. Kum. Sruthi B Chandran of Karivellur North UPS got the "Kalathilakam" title in UP section.
Payyanur: Kanhangad Nehru Arts & Sc College is leading with 93 points in the Kannur University Youth Festival being held at Payyanur. SS College Thaliparamaba and Payyanur College are in second and third positions with 88 and 84 points respectively.
