Water Suuply Interrupted In Govt Hospital

Payyanur: It is reported that the water supply has stopped completely due to a mechanical problem in the pumping system at Payyanur government hospital. The patients complained that there was no action from the authorities to restore the water supply which has been interrupted for the last three days.


Garbage Accumulates In Payyanur Town: UDF Conducts Protest March

Payyanur: The garbage started accumulating in Payyanur town following the high court verdict ceasing the garabage deposit at Moorikkovval. The situation is becoming worse and the accumulated garbage has caused severe health concern. The Payyanur Mandalam Committtee of the UDF conducted a protest march to the municipality office demanding immediate intervention of the authorities. The UDF leaders submitted a memorandum to the Municipal chair-person in this regard. In the meantime muncipality filed an appeal on monday against the court verdict.

CRPF Parade at Perimgone

Payyanur: The First Batch Passing Out Parade of Peringome CRPF Training Centre would be held on 11th June, 2003. The CRPF Camp is situated at Aravanchal near Peringome admeasuring 300 acres of land.

There are 250 Trainees in the first batch. The DIG, Mr. P.G.G. Nair will accept the salute in the Passing Out Parade on 11th June, 2003 at 10.00 am at the Training Center.

High Court Ceased Deposit of Waste at Moorikkovval

Payyanur: The High Court has ordered not to deposit any waste at Moorikkovval, which is the only waste deposit ground falling under the jurisdiction of Payyanur Municipality until further instructions The Court order is based on the petition filed by Mr. T.P. Sumith, Secretary, The Environmental Protection Samithi.The petitioner contented that the deposit of waste at Moorikkovval, the thickly populated area, will result into epidemic diseases.

The local residents protested against the deposit of waste at Moorikkovval ground one month back. Though the Municipal authorities promised to find solution to the problem; nothing positive to this direction has emerged, and hence the Environmental Protection Samithi approached the Court of Law.It is understood that due to the court ruling, the waste removal of Payyanur Municipality will be terminated. The Municipal authorities informed that the waste will not be removed from today. The Municipal authorities also informed that they have decided to file an appeal against the Court Order on Monday.
