St.Marys GHS Again Scores Century

St.Marys GHS Kokkanissery, Payyanur scored century by having all the students passing the SSLC examination.

WARM WELCOME FOR MVR

Sri. MV Ragahvan, member of the newly sworn in UDF Ministry of Kerala visited Kannur for the first time after swearing in as the minister. UDF workers gave a warm welcome to MVR at Kannur Railway Station this morning.

Govt. Schools Perform Better

Payyanur: Many Govt. High Schools of this region performed well in the last SSLC examination of which results were published yesterday. GHS Ramanthali-90%, GHS Kadannappaly-86.98%, GHS Korom 86.56 , GHS Mathil-81.82, Govt.Girls HS Payyanur-81.76, Municipal HS Kandangali-85.2 Kunhimangalam GHS-75.43 ( which also have credit of having most number of candidates appearing for the examination) are some among them.


SSLC 2001: Two Ranks in Payyanur

Payyanur: K.Darsana of St.Marys GHS Kokkanissery secured 9th rank in the SSLC examination 2001. She scored 578 marks. Mary Antony of the same school secured 12th rank with 575 marks. Manu Prasad of AVSGHS Karivellur also secured 12th rank.

A K Antony sworn-in as Kerala chief minister

17 May - Senior Congress leader A K Antony was on Thursday sworn-in as the 18th chief minister of Kerala. He will head a Congress-led United Democratic Front government. Governor S S Kang administered the oath of office and secrecy to Antony at a simple ceremony at Raj Bhavan in Thiruvananthapuram.

Along with Antony, nominees of seven UDF partners were also sworn-in as ministers. They are: Indian Union Muslim League leader P K Kunhalikutty, Kerala Congress (M) leader K M Mani, Kerala Congress (Jacob) leader T M Jacob, Kerala Congress (B) chief whip K B Ganesh Kumar, Janathipathiya Samrakashana Samithi leader K R Gowri, Communist Marxist Party leader M V Raghavan and Revolutionary Socialist Party leader Babu Divakaran.

Payyanur: PK Sreemathi (CPM)- 73233 votes, M.Narayanan Kutty (UDF)-50495 votes, D.Govindan (BJP)-5149 votes
PK Sreemathi won with a margin of 22738 votes

Trikaripur: KP Satheesh Chandran(CPM)- 79874 votes, Karimbil Krishnan (UDF)- 62865 votes
Satheesh Chandran won with a majority of 16759 votes

A K Antony, Kerala ministry to be sworn in on May 17

An eight-member United Democratic Front Ministry in Kerala, headed by 61-year-old A K Antony, will be sworn in at 10:45 AM on May 17. Besides Antony, the ministry will consist of the legislature party leaders of all the constituent parties. Matters relating to the expansion of the ministry and allocation of portfolios among the constituents will be decided at the UDF parliamentary party meeting to be held in the afternoon of May 17, UDF Convener K Sankaranarayanan told newsmen.

Antony was earlier unanimously chosen as the leader of the 63-member Congress Legislature Party (CLP) and subsequently as leader of the eight-party UDF. AICC emissaries Ghulam Nabi Azad and Motilal Vohra were both present at the CLP meeting and the meeting of the UDF leaders. Antony will be the Chief Minister of the state for the third time.

Though senior Congress leader K Karunakaran had reportedly been pressing for the simultaneous announcement of the appointment of his son K Muraleedharan, MP, as PCC (I) president, this matter did not come up for discussion.

PARIYARAM MEDICAL COLLEGE - ONCE AGAIN BECOMES THE ATTRACTION

Payyanur: Pariyaram Medical College, which has created a lot of problems in the Kerala Politics once again becomes the major attraction as its founder president, Sri. MV Raghavan, is again elected to the Kerala Assembly from Thiruvananthapuram West. MVR is expected to be a member of the new Cabinet which will be sworn in a few days.

TWO MLAs FOR PAYYANUR

There will be "two MLAs" for Payyanur in the newly formed Kerala Legislative Assembly- Smt.P.K.Sreemathi and Sri. KC Venugopal. Sreemathi is the elected representative of Payyanur while Venugopal is a native of Payyanur who represents Alappuzha in the new Assembly. Payyanur Dot Com extends their warm congratulations to both of them.
