Payyanur: The north kerala amateur drama competition by Thalai Rachana Theatres will be held on 23rd February at Kunhimangalam. Expenses will be reimbursed to the selected troops. Thaliparamaba: Swami Vedamritha Chaitanya (Amirtanandamayi Math, Kannur) will formally release the book on Lord Raja Rajeshwara Temple, Thaliparamba at temple premises tomorrow evening. The book named - "The Shrine of Lord Raja Rajeshwara"- written by Sreekanth, Integral Books,Payyanur covers the history and mythology of Thaliparamba Temple.

Payyanur: Sri. AK Antony, the chief minister of Kerala will inaugurate the newly constructed Gandhi Mandiram at Payyanur on 27th January. Sri. K.Muraleedharan MP, president of KPCC will preside over the function. The mandiram is constructed as a reasearch centre. It will have Gandhian study centre, libraries, conference hall etc. The offices of Congress Party and its organisations will also function here. The statue of Mahatma Gandhi which will be erected infront of the building will be brought here as a procession from Kunhimangalam.The statue will be unveiled by Sri. Tennala Balakrishna Pillai.

Payyanur: The police will make an intensive inquiry into the foregin currency and fake note business of a gang functioning with Eramam-Kuttor Co-op Bank as their centre. Police has arrested MV Janardanan, clerk of Eramam Kuttoor Co-op Bank and another four people in connection with this. American dollar equivalent to Rs.4.8 crores has been recovered from him. The gang has attacked the police force who came to nab them but later got arrested.
Payyanur: The Payyanur Municipal Council finally decided to repair the totally
collapsed bypass road. The maintanance work will be completed before 31st January.

Payyanur: Pariyaram Medical College is planning to setup a dental college at Pariyaram. The society is waiting for the approval of Dental Council of India. Sri. P.Narayanan Nambiar, the Managing Direcotr of Pariyaram Medical College informed.
Payyanur: The District Rural Development Society is going to execute a project to preserve the "kavu"s(sacred groves) of Kannur district. 17 sacred groves have been selected for the project which is aided by the Central Ministry for Rural Development. Thavidisseri Kavu (area 512 hectares) of Payyanur block is one among this seventeen.

Payyanur: Three members of a family at Annur near Payyanur commit suicide.
Shri S.K. Madhavan (50), his wife Smt. C.K. Padmini (40) and their daughter Suja (20) were found dead; consuming poison by the neighbours at their house today morning. It is reported that the mother and daughter found dead on their bed whereas the father’s body was lying on the floor.
The incident took place when their son Manu was away to his elder sister’s house. It is also reported that this mass suicide has some link with the suicide of Mr. Anil Kumar who committed suicide by jumping over a running train at Udinoor last week.

Payyanur: The si lver jubilee celebrations of Kunhimangalam Thalayi Rachana Theatres will be held on 23rd and 24th of February at Kunhimangalam. Various cultural progarmmes like amateur drama competitionl, cultural talks, folkdances are also conducted along with the celebrations.
Payyanur: The health condition of Sri. T.Govindan MP who has been admitted to Thalassery Co-op Hosptial due to stroke has been improved, informed hospital sources. The MP was first admitted to Payyanur Co-op Hospital after collapsing in the venue of the inaugural function of FCI Godown at Payyanur and was later shifted to Thalssery for better treatment.
Payyanur: Sri. C.Thamban of Payyanur post office has been selected as the best postman in the Kannur Postal Division.
