Payyanur: The Kannur University Arts Festival began at Payyanur yesterday. Various competitions are being held at three different venues named, Manjari, Vaikhari and Anjali arranged at Boys HS, Girls HS and Gandhi Maidan. The colourful procession marking the beginning of the fest was really impressive. Colourful umbrellas, panchavadyam,folkarts,plots added attraction to the procession.

Kannur: In the poorakkali competition in the Kannur dist school youth festival being held at Kadamboor, SABTMHS Thayineri won the title for the first time. Karivellur AVSGHS lost this coveted titile for the first time in nine years. The second prize has gone for Kadannappalli GHS.

Pariyaram: A new nursing school will be opened at Pariyaram Medical College this year. Applications are invited for the three-year nursing course. The application forms can be obtained from the college office by paying Rs.100/-. The last date of receiving application forms is 12th January and the classes will commence on 1st February,2002.
Payyanur: The Kannur University Youth Festival will be conducted on january 11th, 12th and 13th at Payyanur. The competitions will be held at three different venues. A procession announcing the commencement of the fest (vilamabara jatha) will be held on 9th of this month from Perumba to Payyanur Town.

Karivellur: CPM is getting isolated day by day from the people of kerala, said Sri. MV Raghvan, minister for co-operation. He was addressing a public meeting held at Karivellur. He said that the last assembly election proved that nobody can contiune in power just with the muscle power. The minister state that the fate of Pariyaram Medical College is just due to the personal grudge of CPM against him. He also recalled the untoward incidents against the Snake Park which was destroyed twice by the CPM activists. He called the CPM to stop this kind of violent and anti-people approach and work together for the betterment of the region. Sri. P.Balan Master, P Kunhappan Nair, CA Ajeer and Veluthambu Master also attended the meeting.
Payyanur: The timings for the various poojas and other rituals in Sree Subrahmanya Swami Temple, Payyanur will be back to normal from today. The timings were rescheduled due to the granite works carried out in the sreekovil.
