Payyanur: Joy Mathew (39) , the priest of Punchakkad St.Joseph's Church Payyanur died at Pariyaram Medical College yesterday. He was injured in a road accident near Kotty Railway station on 22nd December. The body has been taken to his native place Kollam. The cremation will be held today at Kollam St. Xavier's Church.

Payyanur: The Payyanur Mandalam Youth League Committee alleged that the police is harrasing its workers in connection with untoward incidents at Ettikkulam and Peringome. They told that Police action in such cases are one sided. They also demanded the transfer of George Varghese, DySP of Taliparamba who is behind the alleged actions against party workers.

Payyanur: The Aayilyam festival of Karippal Nagam will be celebrated from 23rd to 25th December. Special bus services to the temple will be available from Payyanur and Taliparamba on these days.
Payyanur: The kaliyaattam of Peringome Kannangat bhagavathy temple will be celebrated from 5th to 8th January,2003. Various cultural programs will also be held as part of the festival.
Payyanur: The Payyanur Educational sub-district schools youth festival will be held at Vayakkara Govt Higher Secondary School from 31st December to 4th January. KP Satheesh Chandran MLA will inaugurate the function and T.Govindan MP will be the chief guest for the closing ceremony.
