Payyanu: The Payyanur Mandalam Committee of UDF decided not to cooperate with the all party meeting to demand the reopening of the KSRTC Depot of Payyanur. The meeting convened by T.Govindan MP is scheduled for this evening at Perumba GMUPS. The UDF leaders stated that it is quite humilitative to see that the same forces who had destroyed more than 17buses had come forward as the rescuers of the depot. They also asked CPM to take the responsibility of the incident and try to solve the problem themselves. The depot was closed down following the atrocities on KSRTC buses during the CPM sponsored strike against the electricity charge hike. More than 17 buses were destroyed at Payyanur depot alone. The UDF leaders told that at no reason they will allow the closing down of the depot. A represenation of UDF leaders will go to Thriuvananthapuram to facilitate the reopening of the depot. VN Eripuram, AP Alikunji, P.Balan Master,M.Narayanankutty, SP Muhammad attended the meeting.

Payyanur: The main accused in the Sandhya murder case was arrested by Payyanur Police after 11 months. The accused, Vadasseriyil Raju alias Samuel was arrested at Napok town in Kudagu district of Karnataka by Circle Inspector Subair. Sandhya , a plus two student of Mathamangalam was raped and murdered at before 11 months.

Payyanur: The KSRTC Bus depot at Payyanur has been closed down and all the schedules from this station has been suspended for the continuous third day. Payyanur Depot used to operate a total of 69 buses in 58 schedules. It cancelled all this trips due to the attack on its buses at Payyanur and neighboring areas in connection with the strike against electricity charge hike. A total of 19 buses of the Payyanru depot were stonned down and one bus was burned at Perumba bridge on last saturday. This cancellation of trips badly affected the passengers of the areas like Tabore, Rajagiri, Cheemeni, Puthoor, Pazhayangadi,Josegiri etc where only KSRTC operates. KB Ganesh Kumar, the transport minister informed that the depot will start functioning only after deciding about the losses and its compensations. All the staff of Payyanur depot has been transferred to various other stations which resulted in the complete closing down of Payyanur Bus Depot.
