Kannur: The seventeenth state conference of Communist Party of India Marxist would start here today. Kannur is fully filled with cut outs, posters, and welcome banners and is fully immersed in the spirit of party conference. Politburo members V S Achuthanandan, S Ramachandran Pillai, E Balanandan, Pinarayi Vijayan and E K Nayanar are camping Kannur and assessing the arrangements made for the conference.
Party secretary Harkishen Singh Surjeet, Politburo members Prakash Karat, Sitaram Yechuri, P Ramachandran and Bengal chief minister Budhadev Bhattacharya would reach here today.
Total 562 delegates including 474 delegates elected from district conferences, 76 state committee members and 8 observers would attend the state conference. Senior party leaders KPR Rayarappan, M P Narayanan Nambiar, Berlin Kunjananthan nair, and Subrahmanya Shenoyi would also attend the conference.
Payyanur: Chamber of Commerce of Payyanur has take over the garbage removal from the town . The garbages were not removed for the last many days due to employees strike. Payyanur: The Payyanur branch conference of CMP was held yesterday at Payyanur. P.Balan Master inaugurated the conference. TV Raman presided over. The conference elected TP Sunilkumar as the new secretary of party's Payyanur Branch. KV Jayakrishnan has been elected as the convenor of party's youth wing KSYF.

IMA House Inaugurated
Payyanur: The new office building “IMA House” for the Payyanur branch of Indian Medical Association was inaugurated yesterday. Dr KV Asokan, the state president of IMA inaugurated the office. Dr. B. Madhavan presided over.
National Award For Kookkanam Rehman
Payyanur: Sri. Kookkanam Rehaman has been selected for the Acharya Vinobha Bhave National Award for voluntary services. Rehman is the Kerala state secretary of the KANFED. He is a native of Palakkunnu near Karivellur.
Kannur: The 17th state conference of the CPI-M will be commencing at Kannur tomorrow. The whole town has become red in colour with various kind of decorations and hoardings. Harkishan Singh Surjeet, the general secretary of the party will formally inaugurate the conference.
Payyanur: Former Chief Minister of Kerala, Sri. EK Nayanar inaugurated the newly constructed building for the Thamban Vaidyar Memorial Library at Thekkumbad, Kunhimangalam. Payyanur: The indefenite strike by the govt employees and teachers is complete in Payyanur area. Almost all the schools are not functioning. But St.Marys Girls HS Kokkanisseri is conducting classes without any interrruption. The attempt to closedown this schools by some of the strike supporters was foiled by the parents.
Payyanur: The 'naveekarana kalasam' of Kankol Kannangat Bhagavathi Temple begins today. The poojas and rituals were not performed here for the last four decades. The renovation works are being undertaken by a committee of local devotees. The naveekarana kalasam will be conducted by Kalakttillath Madhusoodanan Tirumumbu. The kaliyattam festival of this temple will be held from 5th to 8th of March,2002.
Abu Dhabi: The internationally famous dancing couple of India, VP Dhananjayan and Shanta Dhananjayan (the proud of our own Payyanur)staged a maginficient performance of Bharatanatyam today in AbuDhabi. The show was organised jointly by the UAE chapter of Soorya , NMC Group and Abudhabi Culutural Foundation. Sri. Dhananjayan stressed the need of giving importance to the classical dance and music in today's world. He stated that the modern fast music and cinematic dance will give only an instant pleasure. But the classical art forms will remain immortal for ever and moreover classical art elevates the audience mind to a higher level of peace and harmony. It also educates the viewer apart from providing entertainment. He praised the efforts of Soorya Krishnamoorthy in this regard.
The show began with an invocation performed by Dhananjayan couple. It followed by an item called "nrityopahara" which showed the great dancers' great experience and elevated the minds of the viewers to a very high level proving the dancer's claims. The items performed by Divya Shivsundar(d/o VP Ramachandran, the noted actor) was specially noted. The show ended with an item called "nritya angahara" by the couple. The dance program was accompanied by the artists-R. Kalaiarasan(violin), R.Karthikeyan(mridangam) and N.Sasidharan(vocal). Similar shows are conducted at various other venues in the middleast and europe.

Payyanur: The Payyanur area conference of SFI elected the new area committee with E.V.Jayanand as president and T.V.Aneesh as secretary. The conference was held at Karanthat UP School.

Payyanur: MK Kunhikkannan(Payyanur) has been reelected as the Patron of the Kerala State Advocate Clerks Association. He was reelected at the state conference of the association held at Thrissur. Kunhikkannan is also the secretary of Payyanur area committee of CMP.

Abu Dhabi: The well known dancer-couples VP Dhananjayan and Shanta Dhananjayan will be performing at AbuDhabi this evening. Divya Sundar (d/o VP Ramachandran , the famous cine-tv artiste ) also will be performing with Dhananjayans. The programme will be held at AbuDhabi Cultural Foundation Auditorium at 7:30 pm and is conducted by the UAE Chapter of Soorya Thiruvananthapuram in association with NMC Group,Abudhabi.
Payyanur: A free caridologic treatement camp will be conducted at Pariyaram Medical College on 8th March. The camp is a joint venture of Pariyaram Medical College and Narayana Hridayalaya, Bangalore. Specialists in heart treatments including Dr. Devi Shetty will be attending the camp. Payyanur: Tamil Nadu won the championship in the 24th Federation Cup NationalVolleyball Tournament at the Jimmy George Floodlit stadium at Govt Boys HS Grounds,Payyanur. They beat Punjab in the final match held today. Score 25-18,25-8,25-22,25-18. Tamilnadu entered into the final by defeating the defending champion Railways and Punjab by beating the host team Kerala.
In the women's section Railways grabbed the championship by beating the host team Kerala for starigt sets.
Score 25-22,25-13,25-19. Raiways and Kerala reached final by defeating Tamilnadu and Karnataka respectively. The third position had gone to Kerala in men's section and Karnataka in womens' section.
Adv. Mohanachandran, the president of Kerala Sports Council, distributed the trophies at the closing ceremony held tonight. Sri. T.Govindan MP, the chairamn of the organising committee presided over. Sri. T.Govindan MP was honoured ny the National Volleyball Association at the function for his sincere efforts in conducting the tournament and for his contributions to the sports field.
