Kendra Sahitya Academy To Conduct Seminar At Payyanur

Payyanur: The Kendra Sahitya Academy in association with Malayala Pada Sala and Payyanur Fine Arts Society is conducting a national seminar at Payyanur. The seminar will be on Cherussery, the author of Krishna Gatha. MT Vasudevan Nair will be the coordinator for the seminar which will be held on 27-29th of February 2004. Sachitanandan, Sugatha Kumari, ONV Kurup, Akkitham, MN Vijayan, Vinayachandran will participate in the seminar. Interested candidates for the seminar should register their names with TP Bhaskara Poduval, director of Malayala Pada Sala,Thavakkara, Kannur. Telephone: 954985 229421. Thayineri Muchilottu Kavu Perumkaliyaattam: February 6-9

Payyanur: The Perumkaliyaattam of Thayiner Muchilottu Kavu will be celebrated from 6th to 9th February 2004. Elaborate arrangements have been made for the celebrations. Organising committee informed that all the arrangements have been completed for the successful conduction of the Perumkaliyaattam. Thousands of devotees are expected to visit the temple during the four day long festival. Food will be served to all devotees during the festival. The traditionally set up kitchen and other facilities are ready at the temple premises. About 2.5 lakhs of devotees are expected to dine.

Closed Circuit TV system will be installed for the Perumkaliyaattam to facilitate the easy viewing of the rituals and other functions inside the temple compound for the thousands of devotees. A souvenir is also being published as the memory of the Perumkaliyaattam. Apart from the theyyam of the main deity Sri Muchilottu Bhagavathi, the theyyams of Kannangat Bhagavathi, Puliyoor Kali, Narambil Bhagavathi, Pramancheri Bhagavathi, Madayil Chamundi, Vishnu Moorthi, Kundor Chamundi and Kurathi will also be performed during these four days. Raveendran, a native of Annur will be the one who perform the theyyam of the main deity Muchilottu Bhagavathi on 9th February.

Various cultural programs will also take place as part of the Perumkaliyaattam. Karnataka Devaswom Minister Suma Basanth will inaugurate the cultural programs at a function on the evening of 6th February. T. Govindan MP, PK Sreemathi MLA, S. Jyothi, KP Kunhikannan, MK Raghavan, P. Balan Master, M Prakashan Master, PP Karunakaran Master, Pallipram Balan, Dr Varghese George, Basheer Vellikoth, Athayi Narayana Poduval, C Janardanan, KP Balakrishna Poduval, PV Ramakrishnan Master and TV Prabhakaran will offer felicitations.

On 7th evening, Kerala Co-operation Minister MV Raghavan will inaugurate the samskarika sammelanam. T Raghavan Nair IPS(rtd), Prof V Madhusoodanan Nair, TP Bhaskara Poduval, PU Rajan, CV Balakrishnan, KK Gangan, PG Annur, AK Ramakrishnan Master and K Sreedharan will also speak .

On 8th February evening Sukumar Azheekode will inaugurate the samskarika sammelanam. P Appukuttan Master, PVK Panayaal, Prof Melathu Chandrasekharan, Prof B Muhammad Ahmed, EK Poduval and EV Venu will also speak at the function. Ganamela, professional drama etc will also be staged during the celebrations.
