Pariyaram Medical College: Heart Surgery To Begin Next Month

Kannur: Heart Surgery will be carried out at Pariyaram Medical College Hospital from next month onwards. Sahakarana Hridayalaya, the new cardiology centre esablished at the medical college in association with the Narayana Hridayalaya of Bangalore run by Dr. Devi Shetty, will start functioning from 8th June. It was informed by MV Raghavan, the minister of co-operation and the chairman of the managing committee of the medical college at a function at Thalassery today.


Typhoid Epidemic at Payyanur

Payyanur: Typhoid fever is spreading at Payyanur and nearby areas. Six members of a family near Payyanur Railway Gate are admitted in a private hospital at Payyanur. It is reported that another one who is in a serious condition has taken to Mangalore for treatment.

The Ministry of Health confirmed the epidemic and preventive measures are being taken.

Balan Master: President of Kannur Dist Co-op Bank

Kannur: P.Balan Master has been elected as the new president of Kannur District Co-op Bank Ltd. He was elected in the meeting of the directors held at the bank today morning. Balan Master was the chairman of the administrative committee of the bank appointed by the government. He was the president of the bank during 1992-1998 also. Balan Master is the central executive committee member of CMP lead by MV Raghavan, the minister for co-operation. Mambaram Divakaran is the vice president of the bank.UDF had won all the 14 seats in the election held on 4th May. Joint registrar Vishwanathan, Patyam Rajan, MK Raghavan, DCC president Sunny Joseph also spoke at the function.

Foreign Countries SeekTraining Facility At Ezhimala

Payyanur: South Africa has contacted Indian Navy asking for traning facilitiy at Ezhimala Naval Academy, informed Vice Admiral Madanjit Singh, the chief of southern naval command. He also told that South Africa is one among the 21 nations who has seeked the training facility at Ezhimala. He was talking to the media after laying the foundation stone of the sports centre and the parade grounds at Ezhimala. The sports centre and parade grounds are being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs.35 crores. He also told that the jobs of grade B and C will be given to the locals.


Valedictory function & Award Distribution at Bhaaskara

Payyanur: The valedictory function of Bhaaskara annual Gurukulam camp 2003 and the presentation of the first batch of Diplomas to the students who have successfully completed the three year diploma course in Bharatanatyam will be held on 17th May 2003 ( Saturday- 4 to 6.30 p.m) at Bhaaskara campus at Kaithapram. Noted sculptor artist MV Devan will be chief guest of the function. Natana Bhaaskara award of 2003 will be presented to Sri A. Janardanan (Rtd principal of Chennai Kalakshetra) and Kathakali Aasan Sri. Sadanam P.V. Balakrishnan (Principal, International Kathakali Centre New Delhi). VP Dhananjayan, the managing trustee of Bhaaskara will present the awards. The camp participants will present dance programs during the function.
