Payyanur: Senior Officials of CRPF visited the CRPF camp at Peringome. Sivaprasad IPS,Deputy Director(training) and YVK Reddy,RTC-3 Principal lead the delegation. The visit was to assess the ongoing construction works at Peringome. The delegation expressed confidence in making the camp ready with in a short time. About 500 cadets will be trained at Peringome training camp.
Payyanur: Punjab entered into the final of Federation Cup National Volleyball tournament by beating Kerala in the men's section.Score 28-26, 25-19,25-13.Despite of the massive ground support and the home grounds factor Kerala Men played like they forgot the game. Hence the much expected match in the tournament resulted in a one-sided gaime. In the women's section Railway reached final defeating Tamilnadu in a 5 set long match. Score 29-27, 24-26, 21-25, 25-20, 18-16 . This match was really exciting from the beginning to the end. Tamilnadu really fought inch to inch for the victory but had to surrender infront of the Railways who played with many international players.

Payyanur: A new item called "Janasabdam" is added in the Payyanur website, www.payyanur.com. Janasabdham is a location where the visitors can frankly express their opinions on contemporary topics. The first topic selected for "janasabdam" is on the ongoing strike of state government employees and teachers of kerala.
Payyanur: The first semifinal matches of the federation cup national volleyball tournament will be held today at the Jimmy George Floodlit Stadium at Payyanur Govt Boys HS today. Railways will play with Tamilnadu in the first semifinal of the women's section. Kerala will face Karnataka in the second semifinal of women's section tomorrow. In a qualifying match which decided the group winner, Railways defeated Karnataka yesterday night.
In the first semifinal of the men's section Kerala will face Punjab which will be held after the women's semifinal match between Railways and Tamilnadu.
Payyanur: Kerala defeated the existing champions Railways in the Federation Cup Volleyball Tournament in an exciting match held today night by 3 against 2 sets. The score is 25-21,20-25,25-12,19-25,15-12. In another match in the women's section, Railways beat Karnataka. With this win, Kerala became the only team winning all the matches in the preliminary round. In group B, Tamilnadu beat Punjab in a 5 set long match and assured its birth to the semifinals.

Payyanur: Sri. T.Govindan MP and Sri.C.Krishanan are elected to the 11 member district secrerataiate of CPI-M. They are the two members from Payyanur region.
Payyanur: Pariyaram Ayurveda Medical College received CCIM recognition for the year. The central government has also sanctioned a grant of Rs.14.64 lakhs for the development of the college.
Payyanur: A meeting of SKSSF will be held on 9th Febrauary at Payyanur Chamber Hall. Ashraf Faizi Kannidiparambu will inaugurate the meeting. A seminar will also be conducted at the same venue at 2.30pm and Syed Sadik Ali Shihab Tangal will iangurate the seminar.
Payyanur: Kerala beat Utharanchal for straight sests in an exciting match of Federation Cup National Volleyball tournament held at the Jimmy George Floodlit Stadium at Payyanur yesterday. Score 25-15,25-21,25-23. The thundering smashes of Tom Joseph, Kishor Kumar and Ismail did not give any chance to Utharanchal team to make a comeback. The third match beteen Railways and Karnataka was postponed due to heavy rain.

Payyanur: Haryana defeated Punjba by 3 sets against 1 in the Federation Cup National Volleyball Tournment at Payyanur today. The score is 19-25,25-16,25-23,25-22. Utharanchal will take Kerala in the second match and Railways will play with Karnataka in the third match of today.
Thrissur: Payyanur Residential Women's Polytechnic grabbed the overall champion's title by scoring 57 points. Nisha MP and K.Vinitha of Payyanur RWPT won the individual championship with 13 points each.

Payyanur: Tamil Nadu defeated West Bengal for 3 sets against 1 while Services defeated Haryana for 3 straight sets. Keral will take Karnataka today late night.
Payyanur: SNDP formed a lot of new branches in Payyanur and surrounding areas Karivellur, Ramanthali , Korom etc. It is for the first time this organisation is having its units in this area. At Karivellur the formation of SNDP unit created chaos which resulted in fighting between SNDP and CPI-M workers.
Payyanur: The festival of Padiyotuchal Ayyappa Temple will be celebrated from 10th to 14th of February 2002. Various cultural events are also organised along with the festival. Lunch will be served to the public on all the festival days.

Payyanur: Four people injured in the fighting between two groups in the general body meeting of the Payyanur branch of Gowda Saraswath Brahmin Sabha. The two opponent groups , supporting Swami Sudheendra Theertha and his disciple Raghavendra Theertha started fighting with each other and finally the meeting was adjourned without completing the agenda. G.Thejraj Mallar and Sukesh Shenoy were admitted at Govt Hospital while M.Devdas Shenoy and Rajendra Prabhu were hospitalised in Co--op Hospital.
Payyanur: The Federation Cup Volleyball Tournament began at Payyanur yesterday evening. The opening ceremony was colourful. The "vilambara jatha" which was held before the inauguration was really colourful and attracted a big crowd. Sri. K.Sudhakaran, minister for sports affaris inaugurated the tournament.
