Kakkulath Qader: President of Majaq

Doha: Kakkulath Qader has been elected as the president of MAJAQ (Malayalam Journalist Association) of Qatar. Quader who is working in the field of journalism for more than two decades is a native of Ramanthali.


Rs 13 Crore Project To Rebuild Kalikadavu-Vellur NH

Payyanur: The six kilometer long portion from Kalikadavu to Vellur of National Highway 17 will be reconstructed removing the existing bends and curves. An amount of Rs13 crores has been allotted for this work. As part of the reconstruction new bridge will be built at Vellur. The new straight road will also reduce the distance between the two points. The national highway authorities informed that the land acquisition is already completed and the work will be started shortly.


Dr. KHS May Loose Uni Registrar Post

Payyanur: Dr. KH Subrahmanyan, the registrar of Kannur university may loose his post due to technical reasons. He was working as the head of the Sanskrit department of Payyanur college when he was appointed as registrar by the LDF dominated syndicate of Kannur varsity. But his application for unpaid leave has been rejected by the director of collegiate education.Managment of Payyanur college granted him leave for six months but needs approval of direcotrate to avail leave for morethan six months. Presently the university syndicate is dominated by UDF nominees and hence Subrahmanyan will have to return to his old seat in Payyanur College.
