Payyanur: A young computer professional running a firm at Kolkatta has been found dead under mysterious circumstances at Chennai railway station. Karumbanal Varghese (Saji-35) who is a native of Cherupuzha is the victim. The body which was almost degraded was found in a box. The body was naked also. It is suspected that the box reached Chennai in the Chennai Mail from Kolkata. He was reported missing from 24th Feb from his residence at Kolkatta. His relatives reached Chennai knowing about the unidentified body and identified body from the birth marks on it. Police started an inquiry into the incident.

Smt. Kodiyath Padinjare Veetil Lakshmi Amma of Ramanthali who met a rikshaw accident at Punnakkadavu has been admitted to a Private Hospital at Payyanur.

Payyanur: The poorolsavam of the Madayikavu temple will be held from 19th to 27th March. Various cultural events are also organised as part of the festival. Cine artist Unnikrishnan Namboothri will inaugurate the cultural events. Dance, drama,mimics,panachavadyam,ganamela,etc will be performed on various days.

Four CPM activists were arrested in connection with the attack on merchants on the day of Kerala Strike at Karyampally by the Peringome SI, Shri Muyyam Raghavan. The arrested were Vellora residents, Nuchikkadan Babu, Puthiyaveettil Balakrishnan, Maikundil Rajesh and Chalil Kareel Unnikrishnan.
