Urdu Arts Festival At Payyanur

Payyanur: The Kannur district Urdu arts festival will be held on 20th February at Kendreeya Hindi Mahavidyalaya ,Payyanur .


Toursim Development of Rs.22 Lakhs At Payyanur

Payyanur: A massive tourism project with an estiamted cost of Rs.22 lakhs has been planned for Payyanur. The main centre will be at Uliyathu Kadavu, the site where the historic Uppu Satyagraha was held during the freedom struggle. The municipality already handed over a land of 40 cents at this location to the tourism promotion council for the project. A memorial of the great moment of the freedoms struggel will be built here for Rs.9,25,000. The construction will be carried out by Nirmiti Kendra. The road to this location will be tarred and expaned for Rs 5 lakhs by PWD.

A tourism information centre will be built at Perumba which will cost around Rs. 8 lakhs. Internet , presentation/exhibition hall, dormitory facility will be available at this centre. A house boat will begin service at Perumba. A boat jetty will be built at Perumba for this purpose. KV Thomas, the minister for tourism , will inaugurate the project on 17th February at Payyanur.


Pariyaram Nursing College Gets Recognition

Payyanur: The newly started Pariyaram Nursing College got the recognition of the State Nursing Council. A total of 50 seats will be available for B.Sc Nursing course - 25 in open merrit and 25 manangment quota. The students who obtained admission to the American College of Managment and Technology functioning in the Bhaaskara campus at Kaithapram , will be given training at Pariyaram. Thus the service of the faculty of Saltlake Community College of America will be available at Pariyaram also. The management is preparing to start courses in Managment and Computer Science also at Pariyaram campus.

VHSE Youth Festival: Thrissur Champions

Payyanur:Thrissur region won the overall championship scoring 310 points in the 6th VHSE youth festival held at Payyanur. The hosts Payyaur region reached second with 284 points. Prajeesh B of Kumaranellur VHSS(Ernakulam) was selected as kalaprathibha and Lakshmi S Kumar of Kadambanadu KRKPM VHSS (Chengannur) bagged the title kalathilakam.The festival conluded yesterday.

Payyanur College First In Kannada Drama

Payyanur: Payyanur College created history by winning first prize in the Kannda Drama compeition of the Kannur Univeristy interzone youth festival being held at Nileshwaram. It is for the first time a college outside the Kannada belt of Kasargode district winning first prize in this item. The drama has been scripted and directed by NV Prakasan of Payyanur college and it depticts the story of a painter.


Pariyaram: Entry Fee For Visitors

Payyanur: The visitors of the Pariyaram Medical College will have to pay an entry fee of Rs.3/- for the timings other than the normal visiting hours. The entry will be free of charge during the visiting hours 12 - 2 pm and 4 - 6 pm.


Pariyaram Medical College: Vice Principal Resigns

Payyanur: Dr. Mohana Chandran, the vice principal of Pariyaram Medical College resigned from his office. He resigned due to the disagreement with the managment of the medical college. He told that the managing director and the administrative officer of the college are ill-behaving to the doctors and they are not fit for that job. He was talking at a send-off function arranged by the college union.
