Bypass Road May Reopen On April 1

Payyanur: The bypass road which was closed down for traffic on October 2003 may re-open on 1st April 2004. The maintanance work is progressing very fast. The first phase between the BKM hospital junction and the LIC junction is ready for tarring while the work second half from LIC to perumba is in progress. This area the road is being raised to avoid flooding during rainy season. The drainage along this road is already completed.

Voting Machines Getting Ready At Payyanur

Payyanur: The electroinic voting machines for the coming general elections are getting ready at Payyanur. About 2000 machines which will be used in the 10 assembly constituencies -Payyanur, Taliparamba, Irikkur, Peravoor, Thalassery, Azheekode,Koothuparamba, Kannur, Edakkad and Peringalam- are getting ready at Payyanur. These machines were kept under safe custody in the revnue record room at Payyanur after the last assembly elections.


New Sub Inspector At Pazhayangadi

Pilathara: K.Gangadharan Nair took charge as the new sub inspector of Police of Pazhayangadi Police Station. He is a native of Bekal, Kanhangad.


Reception To Creators Of “4 The People”

Payyanur: A warm reception was given to the creators of the recent superhit malayalam movie 4 The People at Payyanur yesterday. The director of the film Jayaraj, music director ("lajjavathiye" fame) Jassi Gift, producer Sabu Cheriyan along with the actors of the movie was present in the function. Unni Sivapal, a native of Payyanur and son of the renowned dancer late Nadanam Sivapalan Master is one among those acted in this movie. The reception was arranged at Rajadhani theatre where this movie is being exhibited presently.


VCD On Hajj Rituals

Payyanur: A video CD on the rituals during the Hajj has been released at Payyanur. The VCD produced by the Palakkod Unit of Muslim Youth League was formally launched by KT Jaleel, the state secretary of IUML and POP Muhammad Ali, the president of Madayi Panchayath received the first copy.
