Payyanur: The Payyanur Fire Station will have a new own building soon. The works of the new building being constructed at Moorikkovval is in the final phase. The inauguration of the new building will be conducted immediately after the Lok Sabha elections. The new building is constructed by the Kerala Construction Corporation. It will have garage to accommodate five fire engines, watch-room, file-room, offices and rest-rooms. A water tank to reserve water for emergency situations is also available in the new structure. The fire-station is struggling with lack of space in the present rented building. Being located in the heart of the town, many times it was very difficult to get access for the fire engines to rush to the spots due to the heavy traffic jams of the town.
