Payyanur: Ezhimala Naval Academy will be made the most sought tourist spot of the country- informed South Zone Naval Command Flag Officer Yashwant Prasad. He was talking after laying the foundation stone for the housing complex at Ezhimala. The housing complex ,being constructed at a cost of Rs.67 crores will have 780 houses. The visitors will be allowed in batches and will have the faciltiy to see the academy sorrundings in special vechicle and also will be allowed to enter selected training centres.
He also stated that the plan to form the Ezhimala Development Authority is under the consideration of the government. The authority will include people's representatives of the local bodies. The central government has given approval for new project of Rs. 500.96 crores for the construction works of the Academy. The candidates passing out from the academy will be offered B.Tech degree instead of B.Sc.
