Payyanur: The Kannur district schools youth festival will be held at Payyanur from 12th to 15th of January,2004. Balakalotsavam, Sanskritotsavam, Arabic Festival and TTI festival also will be held along with this. About 5000 students from 15 sub-districts will participate in the festival.
PK Sreemathi MLA will formally inaugurate the festival at 4 pm on 13th January and T.Govindan MP will preside over the function. The closing cermony will be inaugurated by K Sudhakaran, the minister for forests at 5 pm on 15th January. OV Narayanan , the district Panchayath president will preside over the closing ceremony. AP Abdullakutty MP will distribute the prizes to the winners.
Payyanur is hosting the district schools youth festival after a long gap of 11 years. The vegetables, coconut and banana leaves required to provide food for the participants have been arranged by the students of the eastern-hilly areas of the district. Various competitions will be held on five different venues
