Payyanur: Cardiac surgery service will commence at Sahakarana Hrudayalaya of Pariyaram Medical College from 23rd October 2003. Two operation theatres with ultra modern facilities have been setup here. An intensive therapy unit with 15 beds and intensive care unit with 8 beds are also setup in the hrudayalaya. Digital Cardiac Cath Lab, for the treament of cardiac disorders without surgery will also start functioning on thursday. Facilities like Cardiac Catheterisation, Anjiogram etc will be available in the Cath Lab. The coronary care unit with 17 beds will be functioning round the clock. The Sahakarana Hrudayalaya, which is setup in association with the famous Narayana Hrudayalaya of Bangalore will also have a special ward with 10 beds for poor patients, a general ward, semi private, semi deluxe and super deluxe rooms etc. Heart surgery will be carried out here at a cost of Rs.65,000 only for the financially backward patients.
