Payyanur: Chief Minister AK Antony will inaugurate the Sahakarana Hridayalaya, the cardiology centre at Pariyaram Medical College on 8th June. The cardiology centre has been set up in association with the Narayana Hridayalaya of Bangalore. It is aimed at giving proper attention and treatment to the poor and needy heart patients at reasonable cost. 30 to 50% concession will be given to the poor patients at the centre. Prior to the inauguration, a free heart-diseases detection camp will be held at the medical college from 25 to 27th May. There will be 12 consultation rooms, an intensive care unit with 18 beds, 2 digital labs, modern operation theatre in the fully airconditioned centre.
A new unit for the treatment of stomach diseases (diagnostic gastro endrology) has been opened at Pariyaram. The new unit has been setup at a cost of about 25 lakhs. Video endoscopy facility will be available all the time in this unit.
