Payyanur: A full-fledged cardiac centre will come up in the Pariyaram Medical College Hospital raising hopes of a cheaper alternative for heart patients of Kerala. The Rs 120 million project set up jointly by the Kerala State Cooperative Hospital complex, Centre for Advanced Medical Services Ltd and the Bangalore-based Narayana Hridayalaya, would be inaugurated by Chief Minister A K Antony on June 8. While the Pariyaram Medical College hospital will provide the required infrastructure facility to run the cardiac unit, christened as 'Sahakarana Hridayalaya', the Narayana Hridayalaya will be responsible for making available services of 30 cardiologists along with 100-odd nurses specialised in the treatment Raghavan claimed the cardiac centre would provide treatment at half the cost compared to the treatment provided by other medical centres in the country. The hospital has a 150-bed unit with round the clock service for giving specialised treatment for heart patients.
