Kannur: The short-story Muttamillatha Kuttikal, by Ashraf Adoor, has won the award for the best short-story instituted by the Malayala Bhasha Patasala, an institution to promote Malayalam language and literature.Announcing the winners of the state-level literary contests organised by the Patasala, T P Bhaskara Poduval, director, said the first prize for story writing among college students went to Hey Ram by Abdul Salam. In the high school section, Mazhakkayi by Sabna S bagged the first prize.In the poetry contest under general category, Savalayam authored by Santhosh Koramangalam was adjudged the best. Aarum Jalakam Thurannidaruhtu, a poetry by Abdul Salam bagged the first prize in the contest for college students, while Nilavilikal by Sabna S was selected the best in the high school section.
