Army Rejects Certificates of Kannur University

Kannur: The Army has rejected applications of degree holders from Kannur University on grounds that the university has no recognition. About 200 applications for various posts in the army, air force and the navy have already been rejected for the same reason.

The officials said that they were acting on orders from the Army head quarters. The officials of the head quarters have ordered the recruiting units to accept Kannur University's degree certificates only after consulting with them.

Kannur University was established seven years back. Its courses have UGC recognition. The university is a member of the Association of Indian Universities. It has only to get University Grants Commission's financial aid. The University registrar K.H. Subrahmaniam said officials have taken the issue of rejecting applications seriously, and that they have informed the concerned authorities about it.
