AK ANTONY AND MVR HAIL SUPREME COURT VERDICT
Chief Minster A K Antony described Supreme Court's verdict on Koothuparambu case as victory against politics of vendetta practiced by the previous LDF government. Antony said that the apex court's decision also justifies state government's earlier action regarding re induction of police officials who were suspended in connection with this case. Antony alleged that Nayanar government had initiated action against several sincere government officials solely on political grounds and apex courts verdict is welcome relief to such persons.
Expressing deep satisfaction over the verdict Minister M V Raghavan said that CPM's main aim was to finish him off politically by falsely implicating him in the case. He wondered how case could be filed against a minister on account of police firing. "When I was arrested in the case I asked this to E M S Namboodiripad and he never replied for my question." Raghavan said. Minister pointed out that in 1980 when E K Nayanar was the chief minister three youth league workers were killed in police firing. "Did any one file a case against Nayanar then" Raghavan asks.
